Everyone who takes part in a drive should be safe: your members, the people and communities the drive is for, and above all children. Keeping them safe matters more than any drive, story or deadline. If a drive can't run safely, it doesn't run.

As a Social Leader you're the person your members look to. You don't have to be an expert, but you do have to know the rules, follow them every time, and act quickly when something is wrong.

Who safeguarding covers

  • Your members: adult students who give their time, often somewhere new to them.
  • The people a drive is for: children at a school, patients at a camp, families in a neighbourhood, people with disabilities.
  • Vulnerable adults: anyone who, for a time or always, can't fully protect themselves.
  • You and your team: leaders need support too, especially after something upsetting.
