Hear about the right drives, without hunting

  1. 01

    Drives near you

Browse every open drive, filter by cause, place and date, and sort by distance from your PIN code, on a list or a map.

  2. 02

    Drives for you

Tell us your causes, skills and when you're free, and your dashboard suggests drives that fit, with the reason in plain words.

  3. 03

    Alerts when a drive fits

Switch on a weekly email of drives that match you, or a notice when a close match opens up. Off until you say so, and never more than twice a week.

  4. 04

    Through your college's Centre

Your Centre's Social Leaders take seats on NGOs' drives and invite members who are free that day. Join with your Centre's link or code.

What you get for your work

  1. 01

    A certificate for every drive

Signed by SocioStory and co-signed by the NGO that ran it. Anyone can check it's genuine, and you can add it to LinkedIn in one click.

  2. 02

    Your hours, on record

You check in and out with the organiser's QR code, and the organiser signs off. Nobody can quietly change them later.

  3. 03

    Milestone certificates

At 25, 50, 100 and 250 hours, for a completed term as a Social Leader, and for an NSS year (120 hours in an academic year) if your college's Centre runs NSS.

  4. 04

    Letters of recommendation

After 50 recorded hours with an NGO, ask them for a signed letter you can send with applications. Social Leaders can ask their faculty anchor after a term.

  5. 05

    Badges, levels and streaks

Blood Hero, Green Warrior, Reading Buddy and more, with levels that grow with your hours.

  6. 06

    The Impact Passport

At a college with a SocioStory Centre, see your progress towards NSS, UGC credit and AICTE activity points, with hour statements your faculty anchor signs.

  7. 07

    Open Badges

Download any certificate as an Open Badge that other platforms can read and check.

  8. 08

A public profile, if you want one

One link with your hours, badges and certificates, for your CV or college forms. Hidden unless you switch it on.

Questions people ask

Something else? Write to us from the contact page.

Is it really free?
Yes. Volunteers never pay for anything on SocioStory.
How will I hear about new drives?
Through Drives for you on your dashboard, the alerts you can switch on (a weekly email, or a notice when a close match opens up), your Centre's Social Leaders, the NGOs you've volunteered with if you let them invite you, and our weekly mailer.
Can my hours count for college credit?
If your college has a SocioStory Centre, the Impact Passport shows your progress towards NSS, UGC and AICTE requirements, and your faculty anchor can sign an hour statement. Your college decides what it accepts.
Why must I be 18?
To keep young people safe, volunteering on SocioStory is for adults only. If we open it to under-18s one day, it will be with a guardian's consent, and we will never track a minor's location.
Who can see my profile?
Nobody, unless you switch on your public profile. NGOs can't search for or browse volunteers: they see only the roster of their own drives (your name, college, sign-up and attendance), and your phone number only if you choose to share it.
